Emergency in Boaco Caused by Heavy Rain

The community of Paso de Lajas in Boaco, Nicaragua.

At the beginning of September, during the rainy season, the municipality of Boaco was greatly affected by the storms that crossed the region. The river Fonseca that borders the city and the water supply overflowed, affecting the majority of the population living on the banks of the river. The community of Paso de Lajas, which Clinica Verde’s rural outreach team frequently visits, was cut off from help as the suspension bridge that allowed access to the community was destroyed. There were 12 families affected by these rains. Our Clinica Verde team stepped in by providing medical care, medicines and guaranteeing food supplies to these familes. We are grateful for our compassionate team – and for the support YOU provide to make this type of outreach possible.
