Visual Health Program

Since 2016, Clinica Verde has partnered with Fundación Cuido del Ojo (FCO), an organization committed to improving the visual health of Nicaraguans. Together, FCO and Clinica Verde work to reduce visual dysfunctions and improve vision among the rural poor of Nicaragua through prevention and care.

To this end, we have implemented several visual health programs in public schools and communities, whose access to optometry services was virtually nonexistent prior to our partnership. Since inception, this program has impacted the lives of more than 34,000 people who have received free, quality eye care in their own community.

In addition, through our school program – founded in 2017 – we have examined the eyesight of more than 22,000 students and teachers on site in school settings, providing eyeglasses to those who need them.

Due to the success of this program, the Ministry of Health of Nicaragua has joined the partnership, requesting Clinica Verde and FCO to provide free visual health screenings and care throughout the entire state of Boaco, Nicaragua.

Thanks to God, everything went well with my eye exam and my problem was resolved. I can’t wait to receive my new lenses!

The team here is excellent and the service wonderful – I can’t think of anything I would improve. Thank you for taking care of my eyes.
